Gamba - Reds play to 1-1 draw
By: 21 | October 8th, 2008Gamba Osaka squeezed out a 1-1 draw at home against Urawa Red Diamonds in the opening leg of the AFC Champions League on a late goal by Endo Yashuito. Hajime Hosoga netted a rare goal at the twenty-second minute mark from the area to give the Red Diamonds the lead. The Red Diamonds dictated a very tight defensively sound match but were very hampered without the loss of great leader Marcus Tulio Tanaka until very late in the match. However with the match winding down and appearing that the Reds were headed for the victory, Gamba was awarded a very questionable penalty with Ryuji Bando called for pulling down Takahito Soma in the area. Endo Yashuito converted with nine minutes left in the match to draw it level and with few opportunities for either club to score the winner in last stages, the decider now heads back to Saitama Stadium on October 22.
