Oita Trinita versus Urawa Red Diamonds summary
By: 21 | September 13th, 2008With forty-five thousand in attendance at Saitama Stadium the Oita Trinita - Urawa Red Diamonds match played to a nil draw.
Ōita’s defense was perfect again and their record of not allowing a goal stretches to four-hundred twenty minutes. At every turn Red Diamonds maestro, Yuki Abe, efforts were thwarted and virtually all crossing attempts to the striking group of Yuichiro Nagai and Naohiro Takahara were stopped cold. What attempts on goal by Urawa were mostly long range efforts from poor angles. Urawa Red Diamonds manager Gert Engels tried to throw the attack forward but the tight-marking Trinita is the best defensive club in the J-League and would not be broken. Offensively, they definitely held back the reigns and seemed to be more interested in the draw and lacked commitment in the counter attack.
I will round-up the balance of the J-League after todays matches and look ahead at next weeks action. Match details and a few good action photos are listed below.
